DESIGNER

Michelle Talley joined Reflective Images in the summer of 2009. She went to art school and trained as a jeweler, which she has been all her life. Over the years, she has perfected hand fabrication, stone setting and also wax carving. She has several pieces in our Skull Collection. With over twenty-five years of fine jewelry design and bench experience, Michelle is a master goldsmith, as shown here in her rose and yellow gold Flow Wedding Ring with diamonds. She makes nearly all our in-house custom designs.

As a designer, Michelle’s work tends toward the timeless and classic, yet she is also eclectic. She brings her love of the jewelry making process and her passion for stones and fuses them into her designs. Michelle grew up in Santa Fe and lives in Los Alamos with her family.

Circles have long been archetypes for not only timelessness, but also wholeness and homecoming. Rings, bracelets, or necklace chains can be resized for free within 30 days of purchase. Simply send back the item with your receipt and a note explaining what you'd like us to alter. Here’s our shipping address.

ETHICAL SOURCING

Our Ethical Leadership:

We pioneered ethical sourcing in North America and started making jewelry with Fairtrade Gold in 2011. In April 2015, we became the first certified Fairtrade Gold jeweler in the USA.

We have attempted to work for years with Fairtrade International as a commercial liaison to create a viable commercial program that would build the movement. Because of major interests that oppose such a move (while claiming to support it), we are still the only certified Fairtrade Gold jeweler in the USA.

We have been active in these issues for over 15 years; from founding Fair Jewelry Action, the first ethical jewelry blog that evolved into a human rights and environmental justice network, to running numerous campaigns to the public and jewelry trade promoting environmental justice and human rights. Most recently we published the Ethical Jewelry Exposé and published several feature articles in Jewellery Business Magazine.

In our own bio-region, we initiated and co-led a campaign to successfully block a gold mine south of our Santa Fe home and remain active on local boards to preserve Santa Fe and surrounding regions from drilling and mining.

Gold Source:

Our two-tone, gold-over-silver pieces are made entirely with gold from a Fairtrade certified mine.

With solid gold pieces, we offer recycled gold and Fairtrade Gold. Here’s a comparison of the two. But here’s the bottom line: recycled gold has no ecological or social value. It is dirty gold rebranded as eco-friendly.

Please note: we started 2021 by trading 12 ounces of gold purchased from customers for 10 ounces of Fairtrade Gold, and we are transitioning to using Fairtrade Gold throughout our in-house manufacturing, whether customers choose the extra expense or not. Sometimes our mounts and bezels are still made with recycled gold, because they are not yet available in Fairtrade Gold.

Fairtrade offers the millions of people working in artisanal mining in developing countries the best chance to work their way out of poverty and exploitation. Fairtrade Gold is mined by small-scale miners in a safe, fair, and ecologically-responsible manner.

Gemstone Source:

We source our larger diamonds, .25 carats and above, from Canada. Smaller diamonds are recycled. Our sapphires, rubies, aquamarines, and many of our emeralds are traceable to a few specific small-scale mines. We work with a world class gem dealer who has exceptional relationships with the local mining communities. He has even been featured in National Geographic. We’ve known him personally for over twenty years and through him we can offer a solid chain of custody. Comfort Fit is a descriptive term that describes the curvature of the inside surface of these rings. While many rings are flat on the interior surface, the center of a Comfort Fit interior surface is convex. That convex surface is what primarily touches the flesh of your finger. The Comfort Fit ring's outer edges are slightly wider than the center and therefore has less contact with your skin. Making it a more comfortable fit.

Our Canadian Diamonds are minimally F/G in color and SI 1 in clarity. Cut, polish and symmetry are "good" or better. Contact us if you would like more information, or if our recommended diamond quality does not match your needs. We are more than pleased to offer additional choices. Our prices are extremely competitive.

Number of Accent Gems: 4 Details

With some of our designs, the number of accent gems varies according to the size. Our prices are generally based on accent stones for rings between sizes six and nine. If we need more gems or less gems that we've priced this out for, we will contact you.
